Nigel Hoath

What has made you take the leap to start your own business?

I have started a few businesses. The reason I started my first one was I got frustrated at working for a large corporate so in 1994 I set up an independent financial adviser business which I sold to Linear (part of LSL) in 2013.

In 2000 I started a surveying business – United Surveyors – that I sold to Countrywide in 2011.

In 2003 I started ULS Tech which floated on AIM in July 2014. I have since left to set up GOTO.

How long have you been working in your field?

I have been in surveying from when I started United Surveyors in 2000

What do you love about your job?

It is rewarding to see new customers benefiting from the service that we provide. A lot of our estate agent clients have never earned from homebuyer reports or building surveys. It’s great to see them providing good advice to purchasers and at the same time earning an extra income.

How do you spend your time outside of work?

Spending time with family, playing golf badly and watching sport

What is your favourite food?

Thai food

Where is your favourite holiday destination?

Sydney Australia

If you could travel back to any time, what would it be and why?

1966 World Cup Final – great to see England football team win a tournament

What is your favourite past time?

Relaxing with family, watching the kids play sport particularly golf and football.

If you could have any 3 people at a dinner party, who would it be and why?

John Lennon – great musician so could provide the music and would have a lot to say

Caroline Aherne – comic genius

Steve Jobs – he could sort out my iPhone!

We've been around for a while and it's been noticed. About us.
